Bill Pappas - Coach/Owner

Image of Bill Pappas
Bill considers himself a reformed endurance athlete. He has competed in triathlons, raced road and mountain bikes, and run ultra-marathons. He has also worked as a climbing guide, and often ventures out for alpine adventures. All this made him feel like he was in pretty good shape. Then, in 2005, he and his daughter, a gymnast, went down to the local park and tried their first CrossFit workout. She kicked his butt. And she was just 11 years old at the time.

He quickly realized CrossFit challenges you, no matter where you are on the fitness spectrum. And it changes you.

After that workout in the park, Bill’s ideas about fitness were transformed. Thanks to CrossFit, he’s stronger, fitter, and more flexible now than he was at 25. Since then, he’s studied and learned as much as he can about health and fitness. He’s also studied the art and science of coaching. He opened Jet City CrossFit to share what he’s learned.

As a coach, he’s helped hundreds of people work past limitations–many of them perceived limitations. Sure, CrossFit is just a workout. But once clients start to see themselves meeting new physical challenges, something else happens in their brains. Confidence increases. Hurdles become opportunities. Change happens.

A mechanical engineer by trade, he is an obsessive CrossFit coach the remaining 16 hours of the day. His passion, knowledge and love of the sport of fitness are infectious.

Laura Taylor - Trainer

Laura Photo
Laura remembers when she first started focusing on fitness. She would go to a big impersonal gym, take a few classes, and work out on the machines: one day arms, the next day legs. At one point, she also took up running and remembers working up to three miles in 30 minutes.

Then her brother found a blog recounting a journalist’s first week of CrossFit. If the journalist survived, her brother said he would give it a try. Both of them were hooked immediately. It was fun and different, and the workouts were constantly changing, not stagnant. She saw progress right away, even on things she wasn’t focusing on. Although she wasn’t doing much running, she did a 5K in under 23 minutes. Although she no longer was bench pressing regularly, she could press 30-40 pounds more than before.

Hunkered down as a software developer by day, one of her favorite parts of being a is watching new Jet City clients get excited about CrossFit. After that, there’s no end to what they can accomplish.
