The Jet City Team

Coaching is something we take very seriously at Jet City. Our CrossFit coaches are all Level 1 trainers, most with additional credentials in other areas of expertise. Beyond that, they are all regular people with families and wide ranging interests, just like our members. They understand the challenges our athletes face, not only with form or strength, but with getting to the gym and balancing the rest of their lives with doing what they love. Jet City coaches understand you, because they are just like you.

Laura Taylor

Owner / CrossFit Level 2 Trainer

Laura remembers when she first started focusing on fitness. She would go to a big impersonal gym, take a few classes, and work out on the machines: one day arms, the next day legs. At one point, she also took up running and remembers working up to three miles in 30 minutes.

Then her brother found a blog recounting a journalist’s first week of CrossFit. If the journalist survived, her brother said he would give it a try. Both of them were hooked immediately. It was fun and different, and the workouts were constantly changing, not stagnant. She saw progress right away, even on things she wasn’t focusing on. Although she wasn’t doing much running, she did a 5K in under 23 minutes. Although she no longer was bench pressing regularly, she could press 30-40 pounds more than before.

Hunkered down as a software developer by day, one of her favorite parts of being a coach is watching new Jet City clients get excited about CrossFit. After that, there’s no end to what they can accomplish.

Certifications: CrossFit Level 2, CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Mobility, Catalyst Olympic Weightlifting Level 1 Coach (pending), Starting Strength, EMT

Whitney Wilson

Operations Manager / CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Whitney has always been athletic, but health issues and injuries prevented her from being consistent. She was intimidated to try CrossFit at first, and would come to the gym in her jeans to watch everyone else work out from a safe distance. After watching people push themselves and cheer each other on she decided to give it a shot – and she was hooked! She loves coaching because CrossFit changed her life. No matter the injury she had, she could still work out; no matter the day she was having, the community made her feel better, and the coaches taught her that she could when she felt like she couldn't. Who wouldn't want to pay that back?! This is also the first time that she’s ever been able to work out consistently regardless of any limitation/injury, and she has the coaches and CrossFit to thank for that. She also recently went through the CrossFit Adaptive Course to grow her coaching knowledge for people who have injuries and limitations!

Whitney loves coaching because she loves helping people. As an EMT she helps people every day and has always lived off the work/life philosophy that if she can brighten one person’s dark day, she can go home happy. When she’s not at Jet (which is rare) she loves skiing. Whether it rains, snows, or is sunny she likes to be on the slopes during the season as much as she can. She also loves cooking and baking, and eating what she cooks just as much! When the weather is nice she loves to take her dog and cat on walks around the neighborhood (yes, her cat is leash trained) and disc golf. Above everything else she like spending time with friends, sushi and pizza. She loves pizza.

Certifications: CrossFit Level 1, EMT

Zach Kaylor

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

In his free time, Zach likes long walks on the beach and the smell of fresh sea salt. Zach, AKA Gronk, grew up playing multiple sports, but never quite found his true passion until college. In 2011, during his freshman year, he took his first CrossFit class and was immediately hooked by the speed and efficiency of the workouts, and the strong welcoming community. Zach dreamed of being a coach to motivate others to become healthier and stronger versions of themselves.

Now Zach is living his dream as a full time coach and doing what he truly loves.

Ric Brewer

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Prior to nine years ago, physical fitness was not exactly part of Ric's vocabulary. About 60 pounds overweight with several health issues, a comment by his mother about how "portly" he'd become prompted him to begin hitting the gym. A year after that, with only nominal success, he was introduced to CrossFit and a transformation. It wasn't just the exercises and routines that contributed, but the sense of inclusiveness and camaraderie that drove him forward.

As a coach for the last 6+ years, this sense of wanting to help others meet their goals still motivates him and he finds inspiration in seeing others accomplishing things they thought they would never do.

Certifications: CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Mobility, CrossFit Endurance, CrossFit Kids, StrongFirst KettleBell

Stacy Wikle

Strength / CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Stacy discovered CrossFit in 2012 when her personal trainer sent her to Jet City mistakenly thinking it was a boxing gym. Fascinated (and a bit intimidated) by all the people jumping on boxes, she decided to stick around for the opportunity to kick some ass. Since then, CrossFit has become a way of life for her because she gets to lift heavy shit with an awesome community she loves.

A treehugger at heart, Stacy's coaching style is laid back, goofy, and welcoming. She loves being able to show people that just because one doesn't fit society's standards of "fitness", it doesn't mean you can't hang with the fire breathers. Her goals are to teach her clients not to judge their body by its type and to push themselves for better (and heavier!) things. Her favorite thing about coaching is watching people do things they never thought they'd be able to do.

When she's not at Jet, Stacy likes go camping in her teardrop trailer, cheer on the Seahawks, and listen to AC/DC with her wife and their dog.

Certifications: CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Strongman, CrossFit Weightlifting

Mike Tappert

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

I got into CrossFit in 2012 after getting tired of doing the same thing at on my own for a decade after high school with no change or motivation. My favorite part about CrossFit is the constant challenge and variation. I can do the same workout every 3 or 4 months and it is always the hardest workout I have done, because I get to push myself every time. After 5 years of CrossFitting I had the opportunity to take the Level 1 course early 2017. My goals were to learn to help others improve, while learning more about movement and how to help people become fitter.

I am interested in pursuing many CrossFit and USA WL certs in the near future. (Mostly after finishing my probationary Fire Fighting year!) I have found helping other people work on their form and fitness has helped my own form and fitness, and I want to develop that as far as I can take it.

Andrew Garbino

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

I was always very active and played tons of sports growing up, eventually shifting my focus solely towards hockey. I had lots of injuries and strength and conditioning experiences which sparked my interest in exercise science. I completed my undergrad at Plymouth State University earning a degree in Sport and exercise physiology. While in college my health and fitness definitely fell apart aside from some recreational hockey, I gained about 25 pounds and my diet was terrible. After graduating I got my CSCS certification and worked as a strength coach for a summer program at a prep school. Not long after that my mom met a woman at work that owned a CrossFit gym and put us in contact. I decided to try out a class and walked into “The Chief”, where I got my butt kicked. Despite almost passing out I returned for another class and I was hooked. I then went on to get my Level 1 and coached at that gym for almost a year until I moved out here to Seattle for school. Being so busy with school I don't have much time for hobbies but I try to get out and play golf when I can or just do things outdoors.

Certifications: CrossFit Level 1, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), American Sport Education Program (coaching high school sports)

Anna Breigenzer

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Anna has been doing CrossFit since 2015. She was looking for a way to stay active and build some muscle, but had no idea that CrossFit was such a community. Ultimately the community aspect was the reason she stuck with it. Having coaches and other members who know you and take an interest in your success makes for a fun and positive atmosphere. She has also found that it is a great way to de-stress after a long day.

Now as a coach, Anna is excited to help others on the journey to lifelong health and fitness. She is passionate about helping people improve functional movements, increase self confidence, and feel better in their day to day lives. She is also a big fan of food and creating delicious meals!

Her interests outside of the gym include being outdoors in the beautiful PNW: hiking, camping, snowshoeing, biking, ferrying to the San Juan Islands, or relaxing on patios in the summer.

Certifications: CrossFit Level 1

Nick Honomichl

Nick has been doing CrossFit since 2010, and been serious about Olympic Lifting since 2012. He loves to be strong and offers a holistic approach to practical strength. His passion is helping members achieve functional strength applicable to all pursuits outside of the gym and to accomplish what was previously thought impossible inside the gym. Nick is passionate about a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, skiing, backpacking, camping, mountain biking and adventure motorcycling. He incorporates all realms of strength training in his teaching including CrossFit, Olympic Lifting, Powerlifting and Strongman. He is a veteran of multiple CrossFit competitions, a multi year CrossFit Open competitor, and Tough Mudder finisher. Nick lives with his wife and dog in Georgetown. He loves tacos, air kicks, anything on two wheels, delicious beers, and lifting all things heavy.

Corinne DiGiovanni

Yoga Instructor (all levels)

I never considered myself “athletic” but I have always been active. When I was younger I was obsessed with martial arts… I wanted to be the next Karate Kid! I started with Taekwondo and moved into Karate and Kickboxing in the early 2000’s. When an injury kept me from my normal workout, I was forced to find something that could adapt to my new limitations. I happened to be walking through my neighborhood and stumbled upon this tiny yoga studio, after my class I was hooked.

I love all yoga styles but my favorite is called “Power Vinyasa”. It links breathe to movement and focuses on building strength from your core. I wholeheartedly believe in making my classes fun and accessible to everyone and every body. I finally took the leap into teaching in 2012 and love sharing my joy of movement with others.

Certifications: 200-Hour Yoga Certification
